Food Safety & Quality
This page needs 1 business fact that the owner has not yet supplied. It is shown in square brackets rather than guessed, because an invented company number, address or licence on a live trading site is a real liability.

Fresh produce, coffee, tea and dried fruit are food. Safety and quality are managed by the lot, from the farm to the discharge port, and backed by the Kenyan certificates the destination requires.
The standards we work to
- Horticultural export produce is grown and packed under a Kenyan horticultural export licence and KEPHIS registration, with certification to GlobalG.A.P. or KenyaG.A.P. where held.
- Every export consignment carries a phytosanitary certificate from KEPHIS and the destination document set shown on the Export Compliance Statement.
- Residue levels are controlled against destination maximum residue limits, with a laboratory test report where the buyer specification requires one.
- Prepared or processed lines carry the food-hygiene and standardisation documents that apply, including a KEBS standardisation mark where the product requires one.
Lot traceability
Every kilogram sold, shipped, rejected or written off belongs to exactly one lot. A lot carries a printed code of the form RUM-{plot}-{yyyymmdd}-{crop}-{n} on its crate labels, and is allocated to one channel only, so produce sold locally cannot also be on an export consignment. A recall works back from the printed lot code to the farm, plot, planting and pack date.
Cold chain and handling
Chilled and frozen lots are pre-cooled and moved under temperature control, with setpoint ranges recorded on the run. A temperature reading outside the setpoint range for more than 30 minutes raises an excursion and puts the affected lots on quality hold pending review. Temperature logs and proofs of delivery are kept with the consignment record.
Grading and rejection at source
Produce is graded into export, local A, local B and reject. Reject grade, and any lot that fails a residue or safety check, can never be allocated to any channel, including the domestic one. Accepted and rejected weights always reconcile to the gross weight at grading.
Your responsibility as buyer
Destination labelling, shelf-life rules and any import registration are market-specific. For the UAE, a product must have an approved registration before it is published, and goods must arrive with enough remaining shelf life. You are responsible for the import licence, registration and label approvals that sit with your business as importer.
